On May 18th, this paper was sent to the European Commission DG SANTE presently mandated to work out new laws for seed marketing in the EU.

In summary, this paper recommends an explicit recognition of the contribution to sustainable food security through evolutionary on-farm processes with reproducible seeds.

New seed laws on seed marketing should therefore include legal provisions to foster and support farmers‘ and citizens‘ seed systems.
